The run of coastal reclamation.
This May 2 off road race is a run and walk in nature through the hundred years of coastal reclamation of the lands south of Ravenna. A sporting event dedicated to well-being and non-competitiveness that begins with total immersion in nature and ends with a physical immersion in the salt water that is the most important wellness offer in the Terme di Cervia exclusively open to participants in the ‘event.
The route crosses the southernmost edge of the ancient pinewood of Ravenna which originally stretched as far as the mouth of the Rhine to the salt pans of Cervia. Today’s itinerary instead unfolds in territories torn from the marshes from the early twentieth century, areas that remain alive thanks to mechanical reclamation, without which the land would still be submerged.
Water Pumpin Station
Of the seven water-scooping systems that stand to defend the territory and the pine forests, the journey will touch three, the water scoop of Fosso Ghiaia, which came into operation in 1917, that of Madonna del Pino, which came into operation in 1918 and the Bevanella. The first two plants are to be considered avant-garde works but also monuments of industrial archeology that show the visitor modern technology (automatic pumps with remote control management, automatic screens, generators etc.) and at the same time the history of mechanical reclamation, being the first wonderful Franco Tosi pumps of the 1920s, survived the bombings of the Second World War are still perfectly preserved, albeit in disuse.
Non-competitive running and recreational motor walking are free events for everyone.
