This year there will be the 23rd Granfondo Via del Sale on May, from the 3rd to the 5th. The famous comedian Giovanni Storti (Aldo Giovanni and Giacomo) will be the guest star at the Fantini Club. As usual, also for the 2019 edition, cyclists they will combine their sporting challenge with the supportive one. The new charity project will go to MANIma.
It is a non-profit organization; it provides osteopathic care, especially in the pediatric and premature infants, contributing to their development, improving their well-being and supporting the whole family. This association collaborates with Hospitals, Intensive Neonatal Therapies and specialized departments. Founders of MANIma are doctors and people outside the healthcare sector who strongly believe in the project. The comedian Giovanni Storti is one of them. He has always been passionate about cycling and he will give the official “way” to the race on the starting line.
The “Granfondo Via del sale” is the Cervia Cycling Festival: three days of sport, shows and entertainment for everyone, on the beach of the Fantini Club and on the Lungomare di Cervia.
Access to the expo area is totally free and is an excellent opportunity to learn about new clothing, supplements, biking, accessories and all products in the sector, enjoying the relaxation of a walk along the promenade and the fun of shows in program.
Saturday 4, on the occasion of the evening Granfondo Beach Party, will remain open until 22.00, waiting for the fireworks, which will close the night of the eve of departure.
The “Granfondo Via del Sale” owes its name to the Saline Park of Cervia, an environment that is unequaled from a naturalistic and cultural point of view. All the life and history of Cervia is linked to Salt Pans. The Salt of Cervia is a brand and a product recognized in Italy and in the world.
The man who work in salt pan, named “salinaro”, is an ancient tradition.
Next to the Saline Park of Cervia, remains the ancient Salina Camillone, the last of the 144 salt pans active until 1959, before the system of production became industrial.
It’s a small artisan oasis, still active, thanks to the voluntary activity carried out by the Cultural Group “Civiltà Salinara”. It produces about 1000 quintals of very high quality salt every year, Slow Food presidium. Here people is working now with traditional wooden work tools and they use ancient procedures. So they give rise to a real open-air museum, which shows the various stages of salt collection and the hard work of the salt workers in the past. A show not to be missed for cyclist friends and their families who will visit Cervia on the occasion of the Via del Sale.
