DESCRIPTION:A beautiful walk to discover the nature of the Duke D’Altemps’ Wood.\nLast 2019 appointment is set at 17.30 at the entrance of the Wood in Castiglione di Cervia. \nAlteo Missiroli\, painter\, ecologist and Voluntary Ecological Guard\, conducts free guided tours open to all. The aim is to make you discover the fascinating natural landscape of the forest and its history. The initiative is part of the “Cervia Città Giardino” program\, Europe’s largest floral art exhibition. \nThis forest is part of the Po Delta Park and is placed under forest protection by the Emilia Romagna Region. During the visits Missiroli illustrates the suggestive naturalistic treasure of the area and tells its story. The Wildlife Recovery Center “Friends of the Animals Zoophile Association” of Ravenna\, with the participation of the Municipal Forestry Police of Cervia\, lovingly cares for raptors wounded or in difficulty\, which are released during these excursions. \nBuilt in the early 1900s\, the Canale del Duca was originally used for the reclamation of the surrounding area. Along its banks two rows of farnie have given life to the shady wood. Today it looks like a majestic band of farnie\, whose highest specimens exceed 30 meters\, immersed in a rich undergrowth\, about one kilometer long. \nThis area\, in addition to the undoubted naturalistic importance\, is suitable for educational and recreational activities thanks to its internal path equipped with rest points with information panels\, useful to stimulate the growth of a culture dedicated to safeguarding the environment as a common heritage\, making the Bosco a real open-air museum. \nCome to Hotel Lem Casadei of Cervia and visit the Duke’s Wood!
